Senior management have considerable experience in soils testing services, their application in the field, and a thorough understanding of the different materials encountered throughout the vast state of Western Australia.
This provides the client with appropriate technical support for testing, and a better understanding of materials encountered on their project site.
General Manager – Ryan Groves
Ryan joined Materials Consultants in March 2011 initially as Operations Manager and has since taken up the role as General Manager. Ryan is responsible for the management of staff resources for the Main Laboratory in Osborne Park and the various field/project laboratories throughout the state. Ryan is responsible for providing quotations and tenders for all work in the metropolitan and regional areas. Ryan is the company’s NATA representative and a current NATA technical assessor for Construction Materials Testing.
Previously, Ryan commenced employment with Main Roads WA in 1992 at the Materials Engineering Branch in the Metrology Section before developing his materials skills and knowledge as a Technical Officer for the Concrete, Pavements and Surfacing Sections for the Main Roads WA. From 2006 to 2011 Ryan was the Regional Materials Manager for the Main Roads WA in the Goldfields Esperance Region. He was responsible for managing the operation of the Materials Laboratory including the materials sourcing, testing, auditing and pavement/surface designs for various regional projects. Ryan has continued with his studies and has achieved a Diploma of Business – Frontline Management (2009) and an Advanced Diploma in Laboratory Operations (2010).
Laboratory Manager – Luke Greaves
In 2011, Luke was promoted to the Senior Technical Officer and shortly afterward appointed to the role of Laboratory Supervisor. His responsibilities include managing staff training and competency assessments, calibration of test equipment, conducting quality system audits of project laboratories, managing proficiency testing programs and ensuring all staff in project laboratories has the required skills to maintain test equipment and perform sampling/testing in accordance with client requirements.
Luke commenced with Materials Consultants in 2005 as a junior materials technician while studying a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Murdoch University. Luke developed his skills and knowledge in Construction Materials Testing, leading him to gain NATA Signatory and an onsite Laboratory Supervisor role whilst working on various projects throughout Western Australia. Luke has continued industry specific education and has achieved his Advanced Diploma in Laboratory Operations.
Group Administration Manager – Deanna Mason
As the Group Admin Manager, Deanna manages the financial, human resource, assets, records and logistics issues for all permanent and contract staff. In addition to training and supervising administrative support staff, Deanna has particular responsibility for budgetary reporting and financial management. These responsibilities include GST and BAS reconciliation and end of year financial statements.
Deanna is also responsible for arranging bank guarantees and any financial requirements. This necessitates developing strong business relationships with financial institutions to ensure efficient processing of transactions.
Deanna has also managed the implementation of customised accounting and payroll systems at Materials Consultants.
Quality Administration Manager – Jenny Taylor
Jenny joined the company in May 2005. Her duties include data entry, document control and invoicing of customers. She assists in the establishment, auditing and monitoring of Annex Laboratories, auditing of the Perth Laboratory, quality control and ensuring that the company meets the NATA accreditation requirements, and ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Management Systems.
Jenny assists the General Manager, Laboratory Manager and customers as required.
Group Financial Controller – Lucy Lu, B.Com (Accounting & Business Law)
Lucy serves as the Financial Controller. Lucy graduated with distinction from Curtin University, majoring in Accounting and Business Law. Lucy is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. Lucy is currently completing her Masters degree in Business Administration with The University of Western Australia.
Lucy worked for Dutch Philips Electronics in Shanghai and Hong Kong prior to her settlement in Australia. Her duties with Materials Consultants include budgetary reporting and financial management, GST and BAS reconciliation, payroll tax preparation, and end of year financial statements for the company.
Administration Assistant – Rebecca Holdway
Rebecca joined the company in Febuary 1995. Her duties include data entry, document control and assist in, invoicing of customers. Roles also include the assistance of the establishment, auditing and monitoring of Annex Laboratories, auditing of the Perth Laboratory, quality control and ensuring that the company meets the NATA accreditation requirements, AS ISO/IEC 17025
Rebecca assists the General Manager, Laboratory Manager, Quality Administration Manager and customers as required.
